            Під час зустрічі з Главою Уряду України Віктором Януковичем Надзвичайний та Повноважний посол США в Україні Уільям Тейлор передав йому лист-привітання від Президента США Джорджа Буша  у зв’язку з призначенням Віктора Януковича на посаду Прем’єр-міністра України. 

            У листі-привітанні Президента США Джорджа Буша, зокрема, йдеться: “Сполучені Штати глибоко цінують стосунки з Україною, близьким партнером та другом. Я сподіваюся на співпрацю з Вами та Вашим Урядом в наших зусиллях заради миру, процвітання та свободи в усьому світі.

            Розвиток демократії та вільного ринку в Україні знаходиться на критично важливому етапі. Сполучені Штати готові підтримувати зусилля України, націлені на укріплення демократії, зміцнення економічних реформ та енергетичної безпеки, боротьбу з корупцією та поглиблення євроатлантичних зв’язків. Я бажаю Вам успіху на Вашій новій посаді”.

  Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych meets with US Ambassador to Ukraine William B. Taylor

      Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Ukraine William B. Taylor. In the beginning of the meeting William B. Taylor handed Viktor Yanukovych a greeting letter from US President George W. Bush in connection with Viktor Yanukovych’s appointment as Prime Minister of Ukraine.

      The negotiations dealt with the social and economic situation in Ukraine and the ways of solving the existing problems. The sides have discussed the situation concerning Russian and Turkmen gas supply to Ukraine and provision of guaranteed transit of energy carriers to Europe in detail. Viktor Yanukovych emphasized that this issue would be discussed in the nearest future during his visits to Moscow, Brussels and Washington. 

      During the meeting Viktor Yanukovych and William B. Taylor have also discussed the prospects of the Eurointegration processes in Ukraine and establishment of closer and efficient collaboration with the European and EuroAtlantic institutions.

      The Head of the Ukrainian Government has outlined the immediate tasks of the new Cabinet. In particular, Prime Minister disclosed that during the nearest week the program of pressing measures of the Government would be worked out and towards the end of August positive changes would be achieved. During the discussion Viktor Yanukovych stressed that he supports the Government’s inheritance and therefore there would be no considerable changes in the development strategy of our State.

      The sides have also pinned their hopes on further steps of the new Government of Ukraine and leadership of the United States of America aimed at deepening Ukrainian-American relations and attaching significance to them.
