      Зустрічі Секретаря РНБОУ з американськими українцями 




      22 січня Секретар Ради національної безпеки і оборони України Віталій Гайдук, перебуваючи з робочим візитом у США, поклав квіти біля пам’ятника Т.Шевченку у м. Вашингтоні. Захід відбувся з нагоди відзначення 88-ї річниці ухвалення Акту Злуки Української Народної Республіки і Західно-Української Народної Республіки, яке відбулося в Києві 22 січня 1919 року, ставши величним національним святом України – Днем Соборності. В урочистій церемонії взяли участь Посол України в США Олег Шамшур, співробітники Посольства, члени делегації України та представники української громади Америки. 
       
      Того ж дня відбулася зустріч Віталія Гайдука з керівниками українських громадських організацій США та членами Коаліції за безпеку і демократію в Україні. Головний акцент під час згаданих зустрічей було зроблено та тому, як співпраця з американськими українцями та симпатиками нашої держави в американському політикумі може допомогти просуванню процесу реформ і демократії в Україні. 
      Зокрема, йшлося про активізацію контактів по лінії Конгресу США та Верховної Ради України, сприяння євроатлантичній інтеграції нашої держави, залучення потенціалу україно-американської Групи дружби в новообраному Конгресі, проведення низки семінарів з питань національної безпеки, продовження програми Політичного діалогу Фундації Україна-США .
          
         
          

  
  

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine meets with Ukrainian Americans 
 


On January 22, 2007, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Vitaliy Haiduk , being on a work ing visit to Washington DC , laid flowers at the Monument to Taras Shevchenko to commemorate the 88th Anniversary of the Act of Union between the Ukrainian National Republic and the Western Ukrainian National Republic proclaimed in Kyiv on January 22, 1919. The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Oleh Shamshur , other Ukrainian diplomats, members of the Ukrainian delegation and of the American Ukrainian community. 
 
On the same day the Secretary had meetings with the leaders of the US Ukrainian organizations and of the Coalition for security and democracy in Ukraine . The meetings focused on enhancing co-operation between the US Congress and the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine , promoting Ukraine ’s Euro-Atlantic integration, engaging the potential of the new Ukrainian Congressional caucus, holding a series of workshops on homeland security issues as well as continuing US-Ukraine Foundation Policy Dialog.
